Panama Canal, which is now 104 years old, is one of the most outstanding shows on the isthmus. The best place to see it is from the Miraflores locks. And maybe the most appropriate time to visit is before 9:30 a.m. or after 2:30 p.m., since they are the hours in which the boats pass through the canal in their north and south transit respectively.

This interoceanic highway has an extension of 80 kilometers and works as a marine shortcut to save distance, time and costs in the transport of all kinds of goods. A ship takes an average of 8 to 10 hours to transit the Panama Canal and today connects 144 sea routes that reach 1,700 ports in 160 countries.

Even the most unsuspecting visitor is amazed by its complex system of locks, which serve as water elevators by raising ships to the level of Gatun Lake, 26 meters above the sea.
